About Me
- Name: Alan Marriott
- Location: Glendora, California, United States
As a relatively new painter, I am still exploring and attempting to find ways to express my artistic ideas and feelings. Watercolor is a great teacher because it is somewhat less forgiving than other media, requiring one to think ahead before commiting paint to paper. On the other hand, it readily provides for spontaneity in the way paint, water, and paper interact to produce unpredictable results. As far as my journey as an artist is concerned, I like to characterize it in the way a great California watercolorist, Milford Zornes, has remarked: "I'm a painter and I will leave it to others to decide whether what I produce is art".

Alan,
I love your paintings! I feel particularly drawn to these last two posted. They are really beautiful, congratulations on the awards. We recently enrolled Emilio in a mixed media art class at a local art center, Chagrin Valley Art Center. He has only had one class, but after the class the instructor approached me and said,"He is sooo talented, but of course you know that." Also I have a friend who owns a gallery/ gift shop and there has been talk of displaying his work or including it in a show and not revealing that it has been done by a child. I'll keep you posted, but obviously he has the Marriott art gene!

Dad...the abstract here and the two others are probably some of my favorites that you have done. Congrats on the awards!! I'll be front row when you are on Oprah!!
